Our world is huge and amazing and when we look at it with a quick glance we miss so much. I think that this occurs often in our walk this Jesus. We look with quick anticipation to see him, but it appears He isn’t actively involved in the situation. Things aren’t going the way we think they should be so God must not be involved. Lord, You said that You would be with me always, yet I can’t see you, where are You?
I vision it like what I went through last Thursday. The attached photo is the Somerville Mill Pond. As I stopped to enjoy the view I snapped a quick photo because the scene was so tranquil. I find that God’s creations are always filled with so much to take in and enjoy that we tend to miss it’s total beauty.
Just out of eye site under the calm of the water is an eco-system full of activity, beautiful in its own right yet we are unable to see it. The pond is nestled in the arms of the tree line providing for it’s protection, swaying in the gentle breeze, singing praises to our creator. It too is filled with a vibrant eco-system. Both of these systems are controlled and continually growing through the sovereignty of our God.
I would like to encourage you to take a closer look at the photo. Hidden in the middle of the photo is a boat with three boys fishing. I completely missed them while taking the photo. So I decided to enlarge it to take a better look. Wow, you never know what is happening until you slowdown and take everything in. Not only a boat with the boys fishing but further back is a man in a kayak fishing. I think I was blown away with how much was going on that I was oblivious to. In my mind I thought I saw all there was to see.
Just outside the picture there is all types of activity going on. Along the banks a half-a-dozen boys are fishing, There is a gazabo with moms and their children just relaxing, taking in the beauty of the area. There is laughter and excitement with the kids as they are experiencing a little freedom.
I believe we often look at our world the same way. We take a quick look at what is happening around the world and in our lives and wonder where is God in all this? Why isn’t He involved? Yet, if we were to slow down and take a breath we would see that He is actively involved in every aspect of this world and our life.
There are so many things we tend to take for granted, not necessarily on purpose but just because it happens consistently, we just expect it. Someone out of the blue offering to help, a job allowing for us to earn an income, how about the ability and knowledge to do that job. Food on the table and a roof over our head, clothing, heat/ac this is such a short list of God’s blessings on our behalf.
Scripture is very clear. God is sovereign, always with us and for us, closer than a brother. Psalm 46:10-11 TPT ” Surrender your anxiety. Be still and realize that I am God. I am God above all the nations, and I am exalted throughout the whole earth. Here He stands! The Commander! The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side! The God of Jacob fights for us!” What an amazing promise from our God. When we let what we see and hear become what we live by and fail to stand on the word of God we will most certainly miss what He is doing. We will be overcome by the anxiety of this world. Jeremiah 29:13 NLT “If you look for me wholeheartedly you will find me.”
I truly believe that no matter what we see if we slow down as with my photo, and take time to seek God’s presence in our situation and how the world is moving, we will see our God actively moving behind the scene on our behalf. Seeking God for an answer we will find that He is right where we need Him even if it isn’t where we thought He would be.
Let me encourage you today that if you are battling with seeing Jesus in your circumstances or in what the world is looking like, lets stand on this scripture. Matthew 7:7-8 NLT “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” In seeking to see His Face, Jesus promises that you will find Him, take another, closer look.
Remember that you are so valuable, loved without measure by the God of all creation. Enjoy life because He lives.
