Here I am driving down the road minding my own business and this picture appears. What happens often is I get an image that directs me to God’s scripture, this was one of those times.
Here in New England we have had a pretty harsh winter, hopefully not much more. Multiple snow storms measured in feet. With this, blizzard force winds. Actually winds that were gusting up to 50 MPH many times throughout the season. With all that winter weather, you would have thought the dead leaves of fall would be gone from the trees. Nevertheless, they stayed attached. It’s like the trees refused to surrender the leaf covering. No matter how much or how strong the breeze, the trees just refused to release them. Even with the new leaves coming soon they did not let go. (Work with me here.) It reminded me of us.
Literally as I drove by I saw how we do the exact same thing. The leaves represent all the things in our life that the Holy Spirit has told us to release to Him. Obviously sin, but there is so much more. Matthew (TPT) 11:28-30 “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.
For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” Here it is. If we would release all our worries and burdens to Christ, our lives would be so much more peaceful. Yet we continue to hang on to them no matter how much God’s Holy breeze blows on us. The Holy Spirit is always for us, our advocate, encourager, and our burden bearer. He desires to be our everything but we have to step in. If you take a minute to look at the photo you will see the cross is already there.
Today, let me encourage us to release. He is the only one who can take the worries and cares of this world. He is willing to exchange them for His life giving ways. Removing our anxiety and filling us with peace beyond words. Surrender all that stuff to the lover of your soul. He is waiting to take them in exchange for His easy yoke. We were never created to carry that load. Jesus loves us and we are so valuable to Him, worth dying for. Have an amazing week.
